In 2008, plans were announced to expand the seating. After the 2008 season, the stadium was expanded to hold 7,000 fans. This made it possible for even more people to come and watch the games!
Hosting Major Events
Macpherson Stadium has been chosen to host several important soccer events. In 2007, it hosted the soccer games for the State Games of North Carolina. This is a big event for athletes across the state.
The stadium also hosted parts of the 2020 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament and the 2020 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Tournament. These are major college soccer championships, bringing top teams to the stadium.
