Maher El-Beheiry (Arabic: ماهر البحيري) was an important judge in Egypt. He was born on March 17, 1943. He held a very high position as the President of the Supreme Constitutional Court of Egypt. This court makes sure that laws follow the country's constitution.
His Role as Court President
Maher El-Beheiry became the President of the Supreme Constitutional Court on July 1, 2012. He took over from Farouk Sultan. His job was to lead the court and make big decisions about Egypt's laws.
He served in this important role for one year. His term ended on July 1, 2013. After him, Adly Mansour became the new President of the court.
A Brief Mix-Up
During a time of change in Egypt in 2013, some news groups mistakenly reported something. They said that Maher El-Beheiry had been chosen to be the temporary President of Egypt.
However, these reports were not correct. It was actually Adly Mansour, who had just become the new court president, who was chosen as the temporary President of Egypt.
