Maher El-Beheiry (Arabic: ماهر البحيري) was an important judge in Egypt. He was born on March 17, 1943. He became the head of Egypt's highest court, called the Supreme Constitutional Court of Egypt. This court makes sure that laws follow the country's constitution.
He took on this big role on July 1, 2012. Before him, Farouk Sultan was the president of the court. Maher El-Beheiry served for one year. His time as president ended on July 1, 2013. After him, Adly Mansour became the new president of the court.
During a time of change in Egypt in 2013, some news reports mistakenly said that Maher El-Beheiry would become the temporary leader of the country. However, this was not correct. It was Adly Mansour, who was the new court president, who became the temporary president of Egypt instead.
