Maite Dono (born February 17, 1969) is a talented Spanish artist. She is a singer, songwriter, poet, and actress. Maite has won important awards, like the Egoísta International Book Award and the Esquío Poetry Award, for her amazing work.
Biography
Maite Dono studied Philology at the University of Santiago de Compostela. Philology is the study of language in written historical sources. She also graduated in Acting from the Royal Superior School of Dramatic Art
(RESAD) in Madrid.In 1993, Maite started her career as an actress in plays. In 1998, she began her music journey. Her first album was called Corazón de Brief. It was a tribute to the folk singer Emilio Cao. On this album, she sang his songs with only a piano playing alongside her.
Maite's second album, O mar vertical (2001), was more personal. It featured her own songs. This music was released with a book of poems that had the same name. She also took part in a Christmas music CD called Cantigas de Nadal.
Maite has worked with many different artists from Galicia, a region in Spain. She has sung jazz music with Baldo Martínez and Alberto Conde. She has also performed medieval cantigas (old songs) with Carlos Beceiro. She worked with Roberto Somoza and contributed to music projects by Na Lúa and La Musgaña.
Since 2006, Maite Dono has explored new ways to combine poetry and music with a group called Intruso. Her most recent music projects include the Miño Project with bassist Baldo Martínez. She also performed as a duet with Martínez on an album called Sons Nús.
In 2013, Maite acted in a play called Hamlet post scriptum. She has also written stories and plays herself. She has many books that haven't been published yet. One of them is Poemas da Mamachán ou de cómo podrecen os fardos. Her poems have been included in many collections and books by different authors. She has also published her work in magazines like Salamandria and El Planeta. Maite Dono currently lives in Santiago de Compostela.
