Making Fiends is a fun and spooky animated cartoon series created by Amy Winfrey. It's all about the hilarious and sometimes scary adventures of two very different girls: Vendetta, who loves making monsters, and Charlotte, who is super cheerful and thinks everyone is her friend! Charlotte often accidentally messes up Vendetta's evil plans, leading to lots of funny situations.
The show first appeared online as a Flash cartoon on July 14, 2003. Later, in 2004, it became so popular that Nickelodeon picked it up! The episodes were shown on TurboNick. In 2012, the show was uploaded to Amy Winfrey's YouTube page in better quality. A 30-minute TV show based on Making Fiends was also made in 2008 for Nicktoons Network, but only 6 episodes aired before it stopped.

Meet the Characters
Vendetta: The Fiend Maker
Vendetta is a young girl who loves to create "fiends," which are her own special monsters. She is green and often squints her eyes. Vendetta spends her time reading magazines and bothering other kids at school with her scary creations. She uses her fiends to get what she wants. Vendetta has a one-sided rivalry with Charlotte and often tries to get rid of her, but she never succeeds because Charlotte is so lucky! Vendetta doesn't like music and mostly eats beef jerky, clams, and grape punch. She speaks with a strong accent and sometimes uses broken English.
Charlotte: The Happy-Go-Lucky Friend
Charlotte is a very positive and optimistic little girl. She has curly hair and wears a hairbow. Charlotte believes that all creatures are cute and harmless, and she thinks everyone can be her friend. She always tries to find the good in people or situations. Charlotte is convinced that Vendetta is her best friend, even though Vendetta tries to get rid of her! Charlotte's innocent nature and amazing luck often make Vendetta's plans go wrong. A funny thing about Charlotte is that she sees things thrown at her as gifts. She also loves to sing songs she makes up on the spot. Charlotte has a pet hamster named Buttons.
Grudge: Vendetta's Hamster Fiend
Grudge is Vendetta's giant hamster fiend. Charlotte thinks he's a bear, and Mrs. Minty thinks he's a dog! Grudge doesn't talk, but he grunts and growls. He's always by Vendetta's side, helping her make fiends and scare people. Vendetta usually just calls him "hamster." Unlike most other fiends, Grudge seems to care about Vendetta, even though she treats him roughly. He can also eat things that aren't food.
Mr. Milk: The Nervous Teacher
Mr. Milk is Charlotte's teacher. He's a beige man with glasses who is very nervous because Vendetta scares him. He speaks in a quiet, shaky voice and has to do what Vendetta tells him. He's also afraid of a red bird fiend with fangs that always stares at him.
Other Students and Fiends
- Marion: A pale blue girl who sits near Charlotte. She has many allergies and was the first student to warn Charlotte about Vendetta.
- Malachi: A grey boy who often warns Charlotte about Vendetta's fiends. He speaks in an old-fashioned way and refuses to sing.
- Marvin: A tall, dark green boy who often starts his sentences with "my" because his things are always getting stolen. He's very unlucky.
- Maggie: A grey girl who usually doesn't speak, but once said, "Charlotte's dumb."
- Rubella: Vendetta's replacement fiend sidekick. She looks like Frankenstein's monster and eats things like wood and glass. She thinks Vendetta is her friend, not her boss.
- Giant Kitty: Also called "Hellcat," this is a huge red cat fiend. He often attacks students and has a huge appetite. Charlotte once tamed him for a short time.
- Buttons: Charlotte's beloved pet hamster. He makes a high-pitched noise when there's danger.
- Scissor Fiend: A bird-like fiend Vendetta made for Charlotte. Charlotte thinks it's a puppy, and it ends up becoming her friend! It's good at making Valentines and tries to save Charlotte from danger.
- Mrs. Minty: A mint-green substitute teacher who is elderly. She calls the students cute names like "buttercups" and doesn't seem to realize how scary Vendetta is.
- Mort: A blue boy with glasses who is another student in Mr. Milk's class.
Other characters include Mrs. Millet, the lunch lady, and a frog-like fiend that controls her.
Games and Fun Extras
Halloween Treat Game
A fun flash game called Halloween Treat was released on the website on October 25, 2004. In this game, Charlotte and Vendetta explain the rules. Your goal is to throw pumpkins at Charlotte as she moves around the screen in different costumes. The more pumpkins you hit her with, the different the ending screen you get!
DVD Releases and Special Features
The first season of Making Fiends was released on DVD on December 10, 2004. It included 10 episodes and special features like optional commentaries for some episodes, where you could listen to the characters talk about the show!
The second season DVD came out on December 14, 2005. It also had 10 episodes and cool special features. For example, one episode could be played with the main characters having beards, and another had them completely invisible except for their faces! There was even an alternate ending for "The End of All Things" where Vendetta moves away and never sees Charlotte again.
Sometimes, on April Fool's Day, the website would play a trick! Some episodes would be replaced with their alternate DVD versions as a joke.
