Makoto Kakuda (角田 誠, Kakuda Makoto, born 10 July 1983) is a retired Japanese football player. He used to play as a defender. Now, he is the manager of Reilac Shiga.

Makoto Kakuda's Football Journey
Makoto Kakuda was born in Uji, Japan, on July 10, 1983. He started his professional football journey in 2001. He joined Kyoto Purple Sanga, a team in the J2 League.
Early Career with Kyoto Sanga FC
In 2001, his team, Kyoto Sanga, moved up to the top league, the J1 League. Makoto became a regular player in 2002. That year, Kyoto Sanga won the 2002 Emperor's Cup. This was a big win for the club. However, in 2003, the team finished last and went back to the J2 League.
Playing for Nagoya Grampus Eight
In 2004, Makoto moved to Nagoya Grampus Eight, a J1 League team. He played in many games. He wasn't just a defender; he also played as a defensive midfielder. He even played on the right side of the field.
Returning to Kyoto Sanga FC
In May 2006, Makoto went back to Kyoto Purple Sanga on a loan. The team had returned to the J1 League. He often played as a right-side defender. But the team finished last again and was moved down to J2.
In 2007, Makoto returned to Nagoya Grampus Eight briefly. Then, in March, he moved back to Kyoto Sanga FC. He became a key player as a central defender. Kyoto Sanga finished third in the J2 League that year. They were promoted to J1. From 2008, he played as a defender and defensive midfielder. In 2010, Kyoto Sanga was moved back to J2.
Time with Vegalta Sendai
In 2011, Makoto joined Vegalta Sendai. A big earthquake and tsunami hit Sendai that year. Despite this, Makoto played regularly as a defensive midfielder. Vegalta Sendai finished fourth in the league. This was their best result ever. In 2012, they finished second and qualified for the 2013 AFC Champions League. He continued to play many games for Vegalta Sendai until 2014.
Later Career Teams
In 2015, Makoto moved to Kawasaki Frontale. He played in 14 matches as a central defender. Later that year, in August 2015, he moved to Shimizu S-Pulse. He played many games as a central defender. However, Shimizu S-Pulse was moved down to J2 at the end of 2015. In 2016, they moved back up to J1. Makoto played less in 2018.
In 2019, Makoto joined V-Varen Nagasaki. This team had just moved down to J2. He played for them until 2020.
Makoto Kakuda's National Team Experience
In November 2003, Makoto was chosen for the Japan U-20 national team. He played in the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship. In this tournament, he played in four matches. He played as a left defender.
Makoto Kakuda as a Manager
On July 31, 2024, Makoto Kakuda became the official first manager of Reilac Shiga. He is currently leading the team.
