Manabu Ikeda's Football Journey
Manabu Ikeda was born in Ibaraki, Japan, on July 3, 1980. He loved football from a young age. After finishing high school at Shimizu Commercial, he joined a professional team called Urawa Reds in 1999. This team played in the J1 League, which is Japan's top football league.
Playing for Urawa Reds
When Manabu Ikeda first joined Urawa Reds, he played many games as a center back. This is a key defensive role. However, in 2000, his team, Urawa Reds, moved down to the J2 League, which is a lower division. Even though he didn't play any games that year, the team worked hard and moved back up to the J1 League the very next year! In 2001, Manabu played in many matches again. But in 2002, he didn't get to play any games.
Time with Shonan Bellmare
In 2003, Manabu Ikeda decided to move to another team, Shonan Bellmare, which was in the J2 League. He stayed with this team for two seasons, but he didn't play in many games during that time. After the 2004 season, Manabu decided to retire from playing professional football. Throughout his career, he played a total of 44 league games and scored 2 goals.
