Manabu Ikeda's Football Journey
Manabu Ikeda was born in Ibaraki, Japan, on July 3, 1980. After finishing high school, he joined a professional football club called Urawa Reds in 1999. This team played in the top Japanese league, the J1 League.
In his first year, Manabu played many games as a central defender. However, in 2000, the club was moved down to a lower league, the J2 League. This is called being "relegated." Manabu did not play any games that year. But the team worked hard and was "promoted" back to the J1 League the next year.
In 2001, Manabu played in many matches again for Urawa Reds. But in 2002, he did not play at all.
In 2003, he moved to another J2 League club, Shonan Bellmare. He stayed with this team for two seasons. However, he did not play many games there either. Manabu Ikeda decided to retire from playing football at the end of the 2004 season.
