Manijeh Hekmat (Persian: منیژه حکمت) was born on March 23, 1962, in Arak, Iran. She is a talented film director from Iran. She started working in the film industry in 1980.

Before becoming a director, Manijeh Hekmat worked as an assistant director and a production designer. This means she helped with many parts of making a movie, like organizing the set and helping the main director. She worked on more than 25 films in these roles.

Her first movie as a director was called Women's Prison (Zendān-e Zanān). It came out in 2002. This film was very popular and was shown at over 80 film festivals around the world. It also won seven awards! Her second movie, Three Women (Seh Zan), was made in 2007.

Manijeh Hekmat has also produced five well-known films. Producing a film means she helped get the money and resources needed to make the movie. Some of these films include The Girl in the Sneakers and A Bunch of Grass. A Bunch of Grass was a German film made in Iranian Kurdistan.
