Manijeh Hekmat (Persian: منیژه حکمت) was born on March 23, 1962, in Arak, Iran. She is a talented Iranian film director.

Manijeh started her career in filmmaking in 1980. She worked as an assistant director and also helped design the sets and look of films, which is called a production designer. She worked on more than 25 movies in these roles.

Her first movie as a director was Women's Prison (Zendān-e Zanān), which came out in 2002. This film was very popular and was shown at over 80 film festivals around the world. It also won seven awards!

In 2007, Manijeh Hekmat directed her second movie, Three Women (Seh Zan). She has also produced five other well-known films. These include The Girl in the Sneakers and A Bunch of Grass. A Bunch of Grass was a German film made in the Iranian Kurdistan region.

In her 2018 movie, The Old Road, Manijeh Hekmat explored important social issues.

Manijeh Hekmat is married to another film director, Jamshid Ahangarani. Their daughter, Pegah Ahangarani, is also a film actress.
