Manuel Fernández Caballero

Manuel Fernández Caballero (born in Murcia, Spain, on 14 March 1835 – died in Madrid, Spain, on 26 February 1906) was a famous Spanish composer. He is best known for his many zarzuelas, which are like Spanish musical plays.

Manuel Fernández Caballero's music was very important for a new type of zarzuela called Género chico. These were shorter, more popular musical plays. His work Los bandos de villafrita (1884) was a big success and made him very well-known. He even wrote a sequel to it called Las grandes figuras (1885). One of his most famous pieces is a duet from El dúo de La Africana, called No cantes más La Africana. It's a classic example of a zarzuela duet.
