Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón is a well-known Spanish film director and screenwriter. He was born on January 2, 1940, in Torrelavega, Spain. He has created many movies and written their stories.
Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón has won several important awards for his films. For example, in 1977, he won the Silver Bear for Best Director at the 27th Berlin International Film Festival for his movie Camada negra. His films have also been shown at major film festivals around the world, like the Berlin International Film Festival and the Moscow International Film Festival.
In 1982, his film Demons in the Garden won the FIPRESCI Prize at the 13th Moscow International Film Festival. This award is given by film critics. Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón was also a judge at the 17th Moscow International Film Festival in 1991.
He was chosen to be a member of the Real Academia Española on April 16, 2015. This is a very important group that looks after the Spanish language. He officially joined on January 24, 2016.
