Manuel Enrique Jiménez Abalo (born on October 27, 1956) is a Spanish former footballer. He played as a central defender. He is best known for playing many years with Sporting de Gijón.

Playing for Football Clubs
Jiménez was born in Vilagarcía de Arousa, a town in Galicia, Spain. He played for two main professional teams during his career: Sporting de Gijón and Real Burgos CF.
Time at Sporting Gijón
Manuel Jiménez spent 12 out of his 13 professional seasons with Sporting Gijón. This team is from a region called Asturias in Spain. He played in almost 500 official matches for them. He was a very consistent player. In the top Spanish league, called La Liga, he always played at least 30 games each season.
One of his best seasons was 1986–87. He played 43 games and helped his team finish in fourth place in La Liga. This was a great achievement for Sporting Gijón.
Playing for Burgos
After many years at Sporting Gijón, Jiménez joined Real Burgos CF for his final season. This was in the 1991–92 season. Even though he was almost 36 years old, he played in every single game for Burgos that year.
His strong defense helped Burgos stay in the top division. They had one of the best defensive records in the league that season. After this season, he retired from playing football.
Playing for Spain
Manuel Jiménez also played for the Spanish national team. Playing for your country is called earning a "cap." He earned one cap for Spain. This happened on November 18, 1981. It was a friendly game against Poland, and Spain won 3–2.
He was also chosen to be part of the Spanish squad for the 1982 FIFA World Cup. This is a huge tournament where countries from all over the world compete.
