María Victoria Chivite Navascués (born on June 5, 1978) is an important Spanish politician. She is currently the President of the Government of Navarre. This means she is the leader of the regional government in Navarre, a part of Spain. She has also been the main leader of the Socialist Party of Navarre (PSN–PSOE) since December 2014.

Early Life and Education
María Chivite was born in a town called Cintruénigo on June 5, 1978. When she was younger, she was part of the Socialist Youth of Spain. She went to the Public University of Navarre and earned a degree in Sociology. Sociology is the study of how people live together in groups and societies.
Political Career
María Chivite started her political journey as a local councillor in her hometown, Cintruénigo, from 2003 to 2007. Later, she was also a councillor in Valle de Egüés. She became a member of the Parliament of Navarre for two terms, which is like being a representative for the region.
Becoming a Senator
In December 2011, María Chivite became a member of the Senate of Spain. The Senate is one of the two main parts of Spain's national parliament. In 2014, she was chosen to be the spokesperson for her political group in the Senate.
Leading the Socialist Party
On December 13, 2014, María Chivite was chosen as the Secretary-General of the PSN-PSOE. This means she became the main leader of the Socialist Party in Navarre. She led her party in the regional elections in 2015 and again in 2019.
María Chivite became the President of Navarre on August 2, 2019. She was able to form a government with the support of several political groups in the regional parliament. She officially took office on August 6, 2019.
In the 2023 regional elections, she was elected President again. This was possible because she received support from other parties like Geroa Bai and Contigo/Zurekin, and another party, EH Bildu, chose not to vote against her. This made her the first female President of Navarre to be reelected for a second term.
