María Victoria Chivite Navascués (born on June 5, 1978) is a Spanish politician. She is currently the President of the Government of Navarre. This means she is the leader of the regional government in Navarre, a part of Spain. She has also been the Secretary-General of the Socialist Party of Navarre (PSN–PSOE) since December 2014.

About María Chivite
María Chivite was born in Cintruénigo, a town in Navarre, Spain. She was born on June 5, 1978. As a young person, she was part of the Socialist Youth of Spain. She studied at the Public University of Navarre and earned a degree in Sociology. Sociology is the study of how people live together in groups and societies.
Her Political Journey
María Chivite has held many important roles in politics. She started her career in local government.
Starting in Local Politics
From 2003 to 2007, she was a city councillor in her hometown of Cintruénigo. A city councillor helps make decisions for the local community. Later, from 2011 to 2013, she served as a councillor in Valle de Egüés. She was also a member of the Parliament of Navarre for two terms. The Parliament of Navarre is like a regional assembly that makes laws for Navarre.
Becoming a Senator
In December 2011, María Chivite became a member of the Senate of Spain. The Senate is one of the two main parts of Spain's national parliament. In 2014, she became the spokesperson for the Socialist group in the Senate. This meant she spoke for her party on important issues.
Leading the Socialist Party
On December 13, 2014, María Chivite was chosen as the Secretary-General of the PSN-PSOE party. This is a very important leadership role within the party. She led her party in the regional elections in Navarre in both 2015 and 2019. In 2019, her party came in second place.
On August 2, 2019, María Chivite was chosen to be the President of Navarre. She officially started her role on August 6. She received support from several political groups in the regional parliament. This allowed her to form her government.
Re-election as President
María Chivite was elected again in the 2023 elections in Navarre. She got support from other parties and some parties chose not to vote against her. This made her the first woman President of Navarre to be reelected for a second term.
