María Inés Valla was born on April 3, 1956, in Paraná, Entre Ríos, Argentina. She studied engineering at the National University of La Plata. She earned her first engineering degree there in 1980. Later, she completed her doctorate degree at the same university in 1994.

María Inés Valla is an expert in power electronics. This field deals with how to control electric power efficiently. She also works with nonlinear control for electric power systems. This helps to make sure electricity flows smoothly and reliably. From 2013 to 2018, she helped lead a big engineering magazine. It was called IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics.

Her Book

María Inés Valla also wrote a book. It is called Multilevel Converters for Industrial Applications. She wrote it with two other people, Sergio Alberto González and Santiago Andrés Verne.
