María Vallejo-Nágera (born May 6, 1964) is a well-known Spanish writer. She has written many popular novels. She is also known for her spiritual journey and for sharing her Catholic faith.

About María Vallejo-Nágera
María Vallejo-Nágera was born in Madrid, Spain, in 1964. She was the third daughter in her family. Her father, Juan Antonio Vallejo-Nágera, was also a writer. Her mother was María Victoria Zóbel de Ayala y Pfitz. María's family is quite important, especially in the Philippines. She is related to other famous people, like her cousin Samantha Vallejo-Nágera and her uncle, the painter Fernando Zóbel.
María went to school at the Colegio de Nuestra Señora de los Rosales. After that, she studied teaching at Complutense University. She finished her studies in four years instead of the usual five.
Early Life and Family
Soon after finishing her studies, María got married. She had two twin daughters, Beatriz and Cristina. Because of her husband's job, they moved to London. While living there, María started writing stories. At first, she wrote stories for children.
In the winter of 1997, María was expecting her third child, a son named Gonzalo. During this time, she began writing her first novel. It was called In an Andalusian corner.
Becoming a Published Author
When María finished her first novel, she wanted to get it published. She sent it to a big writing competition called the Premio Planeta de Novela. She hoped to get advice on how to make her book better. To her surprise, her novel was chosen as a finalist! Out of 400 books, hers was one of the top five. This was a great start to her writing career.
Spiritual Journey
Around the same time her first book was being considered, María visited a place called Medjugorje. She later said that this visit changed her life. She felt a strong connection to her Catholic faith again. She had been raised Catholic but had drifted away as she grew older.
María described this as a special spiritual moment that happened on May 8, 1999. It took her about six months to tell a priest about it. She was worried that people might think she was not thinking clearly.
Continuing Education
To help her write her book Women of Light, María continued her education. She took a special course in leadership for people over fifty. She also took three courses about theology and early Christianity at Harvard University. In 2017, she was part of Harvard's Advanced Leadership Initiative. This program helps experienced leaders make a positive impact.
