Early Life and Passion for Football
Marbella Ibarra was born in Acapulco de Juárez Municipality, Mexico. She studied to become a lawyer at university. However, after finishing her studies, she decided to stay involved in sports as a coach.
Marbella loved football and basketball. She played these sports just for fun. But her real passion was coaching. She became well-known for supporting women's football in Mexico. She even formed an amateur women's team called Isamar FC.
Building Women's Football in Mexico
Marbella was very enthusiastic about football. She talked to the Xolos of Tijuana team. She convinced them to start a women's team in 2014. Marbella became their coach.
At first, her team faced a challenge. They were the only professional women's team in Mexico. This meant they had to travel to the USA to find other teams to play against. Marbella often used her own money from her beauty business to help pay for these trips.
Her big dream was to create a professional women's football league in Mexico. Three years later, her dream came true. The Liga MX Femenil was formed in 2017. This was a huge step for women's football in Mexico.
In 2017, Andrea Rodebaugh became the new leader for the Tijuana women's team. Marbella Ibarra was thanked for her important work in creating the team.
A Champion for Players
Marbella Ibarra was also a talent scout. This means she looked for promising young women footballers. She spent a lot of time trying to find financial help for these players. This support allowed them to try out for different teams.
