What is Racewalking?
Racewalking is a sport where athletes walk as fast as they can. It's different from running because one foot must always be on the ground. Also, the leg must be straight from the moment it touches the ground until it passes under the body. Judges watch closely to make sure these rules are followed. Racewalking events can be over different distances, like 10,000 meters, 20 kilometres, or even 50 kilometres. It takes a lot of endurance and skill to be a good racewalker.
Marc's Journey in Athletics
Marc Tur started competing in racewalking events when he was younger. In 2012, he took part in the World Junior Championships in Barcelona, Spain. The next year, in 2013, he competed in the European Junior Championships in Italy, where he finished 5th in the 10,000 meters race.
As he grew older, Marc began to compete in more challenging races. In 2014, he earned two silver medals. He placed second in the 10,000 meters at the 2014 Mediterranean U23 Championships in France. He also won a silver medal in the 20,000 meters at the Ibero-American Championships in Brazil. These early successes showed his potential in the sport.
Competing on the World Stage
Marc Tur has represented Spain in many major international competitions. In 2018, he competed in the men's 50 kilometres walk at the 2018 European Athletics Championships in Berlin, Germany. He finished in 22nd place in that challenging race.
The following year, in 2019, Marc participated in the men's 50 kilometres walk at the 2019 World Athletics Championships held in Doha, Qatar. He improved his performance, finishing in 19th place among the world's best racewalkers.
