Marcie Rendon (born 1952) is a talented writer, poet, and activist from Minneapolis. She is a member of the White Earth Band of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe, which is a Native American group.
Marcie Rendon started her own theater company called Raving Native Productions. She has written many plays, poems, and short stories. She has also written two nonfiction books for kids and three mystery novels. Her first mystery book, Murder on the Red River, won an award in 2018. Her play "Free Frybread Telethon" is one of her most popular theater works. It uses humor to talk about the prison system and how it affects Native Americans.

Marcie Rendon's Education
Marcie Rendon studied at Moorhead State University. In 1975, she earned two bachelor's degrees. One was in Criminal Justice and the other was in Indian Studies. Later, in 1991, she received a master's degree in Human Development. She earned this from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
Marcie Rendon's Career
Marcie Rendon joined a writing program where she met Jim Northrup. He was an Anishinabe writer who became her mentor. In 1996, she started her own company, Raving Native Productions.
In 2020, Marcie Rendon became the first Native American woman to receive a special award. It was the Distinguished Artist Award from the McKnight Foundation. In 2019, she was also featured in a special catalog called Polaris. This catalog highlighted people from around the world who work in humanities.
