Marcus D'Amico (born December 4, 1965 – died December 16, 2020) was an actor who worked in movies, on TV, and on stage. He was most famous for playing Michael "Mouse" Tolliver in the TV show Tales of the City in 1993.

Marcus was born in Germany. His dad was American and his mom was British. He grew up in the United Kingdom and later performed in many plays.

Acting Career Highlights

Early in his acting life, Marcus D'Amico had small parts in big movies like Superman II (1980) and Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket (1987). He also appeared as a guest star in TV shows such as Jeeves & Wooster (1993), As Time Goes By (1994), and the comedy Murder Most Horrid (1996). He was also in the UK police show The Bill (2002) and had a regular role in the UK soap opera Family Affairs (2005).

Marcus really loved acting on stage in plays. He performed in a play by Shakespeare called Julius Caesar at the Young Vic Theatre in London. He also acted in The Boys Next Door at the Comedy Theatre in London. In 1992, he was nominated for a special award called the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor for his role as Louis in the play Angels in America. This award is one of the highest honors for actors in British theatre.

In 2003, he was in a play called The Lisbon Traviata at the King's Head Theatre in London. The next year, he joined the cast of the popular musical Mamma Mia! in London.

His Role in Tales of the City

Marcus D'Amico was very successful in his role as Michael "Mouse" Tolliver in the 1993 TV show Tales of the City. However, he did not appear in the next part of the story, More Tales of the City, in 1998. Another actor, Paul Hopkins, took over the role. Paul Hopkins then also played the character in Further Tales of the City in 2001.

His Passing

Marcus D'Amico passed away on December 16, 2020, at his home in Oxfordshire, England. He was 55 years old and died from pneumonia. He was survived by his mother, two sisters, a half-brother, and his son and daughter.
