Building Mardi Gras Park
The idea for Mardi Gras Park started in 2014. On November 24, 2014, the city council decided to approve money for the park's design and first part of construction. A special ceremony to start building the park was held on November 25, 2015.
The first part of the park was finished quickly. Mardi Gras Park officially opened to the public on November 29, 2016. There are plans for a second part of the park in the future. This next phase might include a covered area and an open-air market. The city is still looking for ways to get money to build this second part.
