Early Life and Education
Maria Baciu was born in a place called Todireni, in Botoșani County, Romania, on March 4, 1942. She loved learning and went to Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iași. In 1966, she finished her studies there, focusing on language and literature.
A Career in Teaching
After university, Maria Baciu became a teacher. From 1966 to 1970, she taught Romanian language and literature at Trușești High School. Later, she moved to a school called "N. Iorga" in Botoșani, and then to the Pedagogical High School. She was known for being a really great teacher!
Writing and Editing
Besides teaching, Maria Baciu was very busy with writing and editing. From 1994 to 1996, she was the main editor for Sotron, a magazine for children. She also edited Pardon!, a magazine for teenagers.
In 1980, she started a writing group called the Literary Circle M. Eminescu. Then, in 1983, she helped create a publication called The Educator. She wrote many poems, articles about literature, and book reviews for different newspapers and magazines. She also wrote stories for children, a book to help teachers, and another book about plays for kids.
