Her Early Life and Music Studies

Maria was born in Iaşi, a city in Romania. From a young age, she showed great musical talent. She began her formal music education at the Iaşi Conservatory. This was a special music school where she studied with a teacher named Anetta Boscoff.

After her studies in Iaşi, Maria wanted to learn even more. So, from 1883 to 1885, she traveled to Vienna, Austria. Vienna was a very important city for music at that time. There, she continued her studies at the Akademie fur Musik und Darstellende Kunst, which was a famous music academy. She learned from two well-known teachers, Joseph Dachs and Joseph Hellmesberger.

Her Musical Career

After finishing her studies, Maria Chefaliady-Taban became a concert pianist. This meant she performed piano concerts for audiences. She shared her amazing musical skills with many people.

Later in her career, she also became a singing teacher. She taught people how to sing in both Iaşi and Bucharest, the capital city of Romania. She helped many students develop their voices and love for music. Maria Chefaliady-Taban passed away in Bucharest in 1932.

Maria Chefaliady-Taban was also a composer. She wrote many pieces of music. A special thing about her compositions is that she often used ideas from Romanian folk-lore. This means she included elements from traditional Romanian folk music and stories in her works.
