Later, in 1998, she won first prize in the Caterina Albert composition award. This award was given by L'Associació Catalana de la Dona, an association for women in Catalonia. Her success continued in 2009 when she won first prize in the Concurs de Dones Compositores de Sant Cugat. She won this award for her piece called 12 haikús japonesos. This piece was written for voice and piano, using poems by Matsuo Bashö that were translated by Jordi Coca.
Teaching Music to Others
Besides composing and performing, Maria Rosa Ribas Monné was also a dedicated teacher. She shared her knowledge and passion for music with many students. She taught at the Catalonia College of Music.
