Her Life Story

Maria Teresa Luengo was born in Quilmes, a city in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She loved music from a young age.

In 1969, she finished her studies at the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina in Buenos Aires. She learned from many famous teachers like Alberto Ginastera and Gerardo Gandini.

In 1973, Maria Teresa received a special scholarship. This helped her study a type of music called electro-acoustic music. This music uses electronic sounds and technology. She learned from experts like Francisco Krópfl and Peter Maxwell Davies. During this time, she wrote a piece called The Book of Mirrors.

Maria Teresa also shared her knowledge by teaching. From 1974 to 1975, she taught at the University of El Salvador. Later, in 1984, she started teaching how to compose music at the National University of La Plata.

From 1972 to 1993, she also taught at the Municipal School of Fine Arts Carlos Morel in Quilmes. In 1990, she helped create a new study program. This program was for Electroacoustic Music at the National University of Quilmes. She also became the director and a professor for this program.
