Maria Vespermann facts for kids
Maria Vespermann Gorres Arndts (born April 5, 1823 – died May 22, 1882) was a very talented German artist. She was a composer, a writer, and a painter! Sometimes, she even used a secret pen name, "Carl Pauss." Her music was also published under the names "Maria Gorres" and "Maria Arndts."
Maria Vespermann was born in Munich, Germany. Her parents were also artists: her father, Wilhelm Vespermann, was an actor, and her mother, Clara Metzger Vespermann, was a singer. Maria showed a special gift for music from a very young age. She even performed in her first public concert when she was just 12 years old!
In 1844, Maria married Guido Görres, who was a Catholic historian and poet. They had three daughters together. Sadly, Guido Görres passed away in 1852. Later, in 1860, Maria married Carl Ludwig Arndts von Arnesberg, a lawyer, in Vienna.

Maria Vespermann wrote many different kinds of music. Her musical works were published by a company called Aibl, which is now known as Universal Edition.
Piano Pieces
Maria composed several pieces for the piano. These included:
- Aus den Bergen, opus 8 (This means it was her 8th major work)
- Bunte Reihen kurzer Klavierstücke, opus 6 (A collection of short piano pieces)
- Four Hand Pieces, opus 5 (Music meant for two people to play on one piano at the same time!)

Besides music, Maria Vespermann was also a writer. Her books were published by a company called Verlag Ferdinand Schöningh. Some of her written works include:
