Marian Curtis (1912 – 1972) was an American painter. She was well-known for her beautiful landscape paintings.

Marian Curtis was born in Los Angeles, California. Her birthday was February 12, 1912. She studied art at the Chouinard Art Institute. Her teachers there included Phil Dike and Pruett Carter. Marian was married to John Manning.

Art and Exhibitions

During the 1930s, Marian Curtis created art for the Works Progress Administration (WPA). The WPA was a special program by the United States government. It helped many artists find work during a difficult time.

Marian was also a member of the Laguna Beach Art Association. She showed her artwork there from 1938 to 1943. During these years, she also exhibited her paintings with the California Water Color Society.

Later Life and Legacy

Marian Curtis passed away on November 12, 1972, in Los Angeles. Her artwork is still important today. You can find her paintings in major art collections. These include the San Diego Museum of Art and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
