Mariano Barroso (born December 26, 1959) is a talented Spanish film director and screenwriter. He creates movies and writes the stories for them. He has directed more than 20 films since 1982, which is a lot of movies! His film Éxtasis, made in 1996, was shown at the 46th Berlin International Film Festival, a big event for movies.
Since June 9, 2018, Mariano Barroso has been the President of the Spanish Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences. This academy is a special organization for people who make movies in Spain. They help support the film industry and give out important awards, similar to the Oscars in the United States.
