Maribel Guardia (born Maribel Del Rocío Fernández García on May 29, 1959) is a famous actress, model, singer, and TV host from Costa Rica. She is well-known for her work in Mexico, especially in telenovelas (Spanish soap operas) and music.

Maribel Guardia's Journey to Stardom
Early Life and Beauty Pageants
Maribel Guardia started her career in 1978 when she won the title of Miss Costa Rica. This win allowed her to represent her country in two big international beauty contests: Miss Universe 1978 and Miss World 1978.
The Miss Universe pageant was held in Acapulco, Mexico. Even though she didn't win, she was chosen as Miss Photogenic. After the pageants, a TV producer from Mexico, Sergio Bustamante, offered her a chance to start an acting career there. She first went back to Costa Rica but later decided to move to Mexico in 1980 to follow her dreams.
Becoming an Actress and Singer
Moving to Mexico was a very important step for Maribel's career. In 1980, she made her first TV appearance. Soon, she began acting in many telenovelas, which are popular TV dramas.
Besides acting, Maribel also became a successful singer. She has released many music albums in the Norteño style, which is a type of Mexican folk music. She has worked with different music companies throughout her singing career.
Her Work in TV and Music
Maribel Guardia has acted alongside many famous actors. For example, she starred with Joan Sebastian in the telenovela Tú y yo. She also appeared in the film Pedro Navaja with Andrés García and in El Rey de Los Taxistas.
She has also worked on TV shows made for children, like the telenovela Serafin. In 2006, she was in a sitcom called ¡Qué madre tan padre! and a variety show. Her long career was even recognized in a book celebrating fifty years of Mexican television.
Maribel has also modeled for calendars and magazines. In 2010, she released an album called "Move You On – Muévete," which included songs in both Spanish and English.
Family Life
Maribel Guardia has a son named José Julián Figueroa, who was born in 1995. His father was the singer Joan Sebastian. José Julián also became a singer, following in his parents' footsteps. Sadly, José Julián passed away in 2023.
Maribel Guardia has been married to Marco Chacón since 2010. She lives with her family in Mexico City. Her contributions to entertainment have been honored with a star on the Paseo de las Luminarias in Mexico City.
