Marina Marta Vlad was born in Bucharest, the capital city of Romania. When she was young, she studied the violin with a teacher named Cecilia Geanta at the Music High School in Bucharest. She loved music so much that she continued her studies at the National University of Music Bucharest. She graduated from the university in 1973.

During her time at the university, Marina Marta Vlad was recognized for her amazing talent. She even won a special prize for her compositions, which are the musical pieces she created. After finishing her studies, she started teaching at the very same university. She shared her knowledge and passion for music with students there until 2002. Marina Marta Vlad is married to another composer named Ulpiu Vlad [ro].
