Marionette Holmes is an American economist. She is currently the head of the Economics Department at Spelman College. Early Life and Education
Marionette Holmes studied economics at Spelman College, earning her first degree in 1990. Later, she earned her Master's degree in business from Clark Atlanta University. In 2002, she completed her PhD at the University of Georgia. Her PhD was in agricultural and applied economics.
Career Highlights
Dr. Holmes started her career as a Fellow at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). There, she worked on a project in Indonesia. This project looked at how practical it would be to switch polio vaccines.
After her time at the CDC, she spent several years at the Harvard School of Public Health. She worked there as a project manager and researcher.
In 2006, Dr. Holmes joined the faculty at Spelman College. She became the chair of the college's economics department in 2016. As an economist, she has written important papers on topics like business and public health.
