The Story of Marjorie's Quest
The story of Marjorie's Quest happens in the late 1850s. It begins with a ten-year-old girl named Marjorie. She has just become an orphan.
Marjorie is traveling to live with a relative she doesn't know. On her journey, she meets a kind man named Judge Gray. He is worried about Marjorie's relative.
Marjorie's First Stop
Judge Gray believes Marjorie's relative is not a good person to care for a child. So, he decides to keep Marjorie at his home for a little while.
While staying with Judge Gray, Marjorie makes a new friend. She becomes close with his teenage son, Reggie.
Life in an Orphanage and a New Family
Eventually, Marjorie is sent to an orphanage. But she doesn't stay there for very long. A rich family decides to adopt her.
This family had recently lost their own young daughter. They are very loving and spoil Marjorie. However, their teenage son becomes very jealous of her.
His unkind actions lead to Marjorie having an accident. Because of this accident, she loses her memory. Then, she goes missing.
Lost and Found Again
An old beggar finds Marjorie and starts taking care of her. But the beggar has selfish reasons for helping Marjorie.
When Marjorie gets her memory back, the beggar makes her go out and beg for money. People are more likely to give money to children.
One day, a young woman meets Marjorie and the beggar. The woman takes Marjorie away from the beggar. She then adopts Marjorie herself.
Six Years Later
Six years pass in the story. Marjorie is now older and working as a teacher. She teaches two young children on a farm in the Southern United States.
While at the farm, Marjorie meets a young soldier. This meeting leads to new adventures for her.
