Who is Mark Olive?

Mark Olive was born in Wollongong, Australia, in 1962. He is a proud Bundjalung man, which is an Aboriginal nation from the coastal areas of northern New South Wales and southern Queensland. From a young age, Mark developed a passion for cooking and learning about traditional Aboriginal foods.

Cooking on TV

Mark Olive has brought his love for cooking to television screens across Australia. He first had a special cooking part on the ABC's TV series called Message Stick. This show focused on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.

Later, Mark got his very own TV cooking series called The Outback Cafe. On this show, he taught viewers how to use native Australian ingredients in delicious and creative ways. He showed everyone that bush tucker is not just traditional but also very tasty and can be used in modern cooking.

More recently, Mark Olive has hosted another popular Australian cooking show called The Chefs' Line. On this show, home cooks get to compete against professional chefs. Mark hosts the show alongside chef Dan Hong and food writer Melissa Leong.
