Marques Batista de Abreu (born February 12, 1973), known simply as Marques, is a former Brazilian striker. A striker is a football player whose main job is to score goals. Marques was known for his skill and ability to help his team win games.

Marques: A Football Star

Marques was born in Guarulhos, Brazil. He became a professional football player and played for many famous clubs in Brazil and Japan. He was a very important player for his teams, often scoring goals or helping his teammates score.

Early Days and Club Career

Marques started his football journey in Brazil. He played for big clubs like Corinthians, Flamengo, São Paulo, and Atlético Mineiro. He spent a lot of his career at Atlético Mineiro, where he was a fan favorite.

Playing in Japan

In 2003, Marques moved to Japan to play for Nagoya Grampus Eight. He quickly became a key player there. In the J1 League that year, he was ranked second for the most assists, which means he helped his teammates score goals 10 times! Only one other player had more assists than him. Marques also formed a great team with another Brazilian player, Ueslei, who scored the most goals in the J1 League that season. After Nagoya, he also played for Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan.

Playing for Brazil

Marques also had the honor of playing for the Brazilian national team. He played 13 games for his country between 1994 and 2002, scoring 4 goals. Playing for Brazil is a big achievement for any football player.
