What is Seanad Éireann?

The Seanad Éireann is also known as the Senate of Ireland. It's part of Ireland's parliament, called the Oireachtas. The Seanad helps to review and improve laws before they are passed. It has 60 members called Senators. These Senators are chosen in different ways, not just by public vote.

How Senators are Chosen

Many Senators are elected by special groups called "panels." These panels represent different parts of Irish life. For example, there are panels for culture, education, industry, and agriculture. Martin O'Dwyer was elected through the Agricultural Panel. This means he was chosen by people who represented farming and rural interests in Ireland.
