Martine Murray (born in 1965) is an Australian author and illustrator. She lives in Melbourne. Martine has written many popular books for young readers. Some of her well-known books include How to Make a Bird, which won an award in 2004, and The Slightly True Story of Cedar B. Hartley, which won an award in 2006.

Martine has studied different creative arts. She learned about filmmaking at Prahran College. She also studied art at the Victorian College of the Arts. Later, she learned about movement and dance at Melbourne University.

She even started her own dance theatre company called Bird on a Wire. This company received money from Arts Victoria to create and perform a big show for Melbourne's Next Wave Festival. Besides her writing and dance, Martine also teaches yoga. She has also been part of community circus events.

Martine is continuing her education in Professional Writing at RMIT. She plans to study screen writing and short story writing in the future.

A fun fact about Martine is that she is the person mentioned in The Whitlams' 1997 song 'Melbourne'. She also has a dog named 'The Bear'.
