Marvin Perkins is an American record and video producer who is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is an African-American and has worked to help people understand each other better. He wants Latter-day Saints to better understand African-Americans, and African-Americans to better understand Latter-day Saints.

His Work and Faith

Marvin Perkins has created many projects to share his message. With Darius Gray, he produced a series of DVDs called Blacks in the Scriptures. These DVDs help explain the history and experiences of Black people within the Church. He also wrote a paper titled "How to Reach African-Americans," which offers ideas on how to connect with African-American communities.

In June 2008, Marvin Perkins was interviewed by CNN. During this interview, he openly shared his strong belief in the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This was a chance for many people to hear about his faith directly from him.

His Journey of Faith

Marvin Perkins grew up learning about other Christian faiths. When he was in his late teenage years, he decided to join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This was a big step in his life and shaped the work he does today.

He has also created music, producing CDs of hymns. Hymns are religious songs often sung in churches.

Connecting Communities: The Genesis Group

Marvin Perkins is very involved with the Genesis Group. This group is part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and is a social organization especially for Black members. He helps with public affairs for the Genesis Group, which means he helps share information about the group and its goals with the public. The Genesis Group helps Black Latter-day Saints connect and support each other.
