About Mary Arrigan's Life

Mary Arrigan was born Mary Nolan in Newbridge, County Kildare. Her parents were Brendan Nolan and Marian Maher. She was born on 5 February 1943. Mary had one brother who later became a doctor.

She started her education at Holy Family Convent in County Kildare. After that, she studied at the National College in Dublin. She also attended University College Dublin.

In 1968, Mary married Emmet Arrigan. They had three children together. Mary worked as an art teacher in a secondary school. She also showed her artwork in exhibitions for 18 years.

Mary began writing short stories for magazines and radio shows. By 1994, she started writing full-time. She writes books in both English and Irish. Her stories have been translated into 10 different languages.
