Her Education and Teaching
Mary went to Mankato State University. She also learned a lot from famous artists like Ferne Jacobs, Lissa Hunter, and Diane Itter. She took special classes with them to improve her skills.
For many years, Mary was an art teacher. In the 1990s, she stopped teaching. This allowed her to spend all her time making her unique fiber art.
Awards and Exhibitions
In 2013, Mary won a special award. It was called the James Renwick Alliance Master of the Medium Award in Fiber. This award recognized her amazing skill in working with fibers.
Two years later, in 2015, the Textile Center of Minnesota showed many of her artworks in a special exhibit. It was like a big show of her best pieces.
