Mary King, born on June 8, 1961, is a famous British horse rider. She is known for her amazing skills in the sport of equestrianism, which is also called horse riding. Mary has won many important competitions, including the European Championships and the tough Badminton Horse Trials. She has also earned four gold medals at World and European championships. She holds a record for being the British Champion four times! Mary even competed in her sixth Olympic Games in London at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Mary and her daughter, Emily, made history together. They were the first British mother and daughter team to represent their country in horse riding. Mary competed at the senior level, and Emily, who was 15 at the time, competed at the junior level.
Mary King's Early Life and Family
Mary King was born in a town called Newark-on-Trent. When she was just three years old, her family moved to Salcome Regis, where she has lived ever since. Mary loved horses from a very young age. When she was only six years old, she was already riding the local vicar's pony!
As she grew up, Mary worked very hard to follow her passion for horses. She even took on three different jobs as an adult to save enough money to buy her very own pony. Mary is also a mother and has two children.
