Max Colby facts for kids
Max Colby (born in 1990) is an artist who creates amazing art using many different materials. She works with textiles, sculpture, embroidery, and painting. Her art often explores feelings of being fragile or uncertain. She does this by looking closely at special objects used in ceremonies, especially those related to funerals.
Colby uses these ceremonial ideas to make art that questions old-fashioned power structures. She feels her art process helps to undo old ideas about gender, social class, and what is considered "good taste." Her detailed art installations use things like beads, fake flowers, sequins, ribbons, fabric, and jewelry. These colorful works are a joyful way for her to express herself, as she carefully builds her own unique artistic world.
