Max Weber's Early Political Career

Serving in the National Council
Weber was elected to the National Council seven different times. He served there for a long time, from December 4, 1939, to December 31, 1951. After a short break, he returned and served again from December 5, 1955, until November 28, 1971. The National Council is part of the Federal Assembly, which is the main parliament of Switzerland.
Becoming a Federal Council Member
On December 13, 1951, Max Weber was chosen for a very important role. He was elected to the Swiss Federal Council. This council is made up of seven members and acts as Switzerland's main government.
Leading the Finance Department
As a member of the Federal Council, Max Weber was put in charge of the Federal Department of Finance. He started this role on January 1, 1952. His job was to manage the country's money and budget. He worked in this position until December 31, 1953.
