Maximilian III can refer to two important historical figures who shared this name:
- Maximilian III, Archduke of Austria (1558–1618) was a member of the powerful Habsburg family. He was a prince and later became the Grand Master of the Teutonic Knights, a religious military order.
- Maximilian III Joseph, Elector of Bavaria (1727–1777) was a ruler of Bavaria, a region in what is now Germany. He was known for his love of arts and sciences, and he helped establish the Bavarian Academy of Sciences.
