May Aimée Smith was born on March 16, 1886. Her birthplace was near Manchester, England. She later traveled to Paris, France, to study art. There, she learned the skill of wood engraving. Her teacher was Dmitri Galanis, a well-known artist.
Her Artistic Career
May Aimée Smith showed her artwork in many places. She had exhibitions with the Society of Wood Engravers. She also displayed her art at the Salon d'Automne in Paris. This was a famous art show. In 1949, her work was part of a big exhibition. It was called the Seventh Annual Exhibition of Lithography and Wood Engraving. This show took place at the Art Institute of Chicago in the United States.
