Media in Honolulu facts for kids
Newspapers are an important way for people to learn about what's happening in their city, country, and the world. They bring us news, stories, and information every day or every week. In Honolulu, Hawaii, there are a few newspapers that help keep everyone informed.
Daily News in Honolulu
Honolulu has one main daily newspaper called the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. A daily newspaper means it comes out every day, usually in the morning. This newspaper started on June 7, 2010. It was created when two older newspapers, the Honolulu Advertiser and the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, joined together. This joining is called a merger. Before this merger, Honolulu was one of the few cities of its size in the United States that had more than one daily newspaper.
Weekly Papers: MidWeek
Besides the daily newspaper, there is also a weekly newspaper called "MidWeek". This paper is published every Wednesday by a company called O'ahu Publications Inc. What's cool about "MidWeek" is that it's given out for free all over O'ahu, which is the island where Honolulu is located.
