Meg Cranston (born 1960) is an American artist. She creates amazing sculptures and paintings. She is also a talented writer.
Early Life and Education
Meg Cranston was born in Baldwin, New York, in 1960. She went to college at Kenyon College in Ohio. In 1982, she earned a degree in Anthropology/Sociology. This means she studied people and how societies work.
Later, she earned a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree. She got this special art degree from the California Institute of the Arts in 1986. She also studied art in The Netherlands for a short time.
About Her Art
Meg Cranston's art often starts with personal ideas or historical events. But she also explores how art itself works. She shows how artists help us see the world in new ways. Her work includes different types of art. She makes sculptures, paintings, and art that uses text or many different materials.
She has shown her art all over the world since 1988. In 1992, her work was part of a big show called "Helter Skelter." This show was at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. She also showed her art at the famous Venice Biennale in 1993.
