On April 1, 2009, a big change happened. Meiji Seika Kaisha, Ltd. joined with Meiji Dairies Corporation. They created a new main company called Meiji Holdings. This new company became very important in Japan. It is even part of the Nikkei 225 stock index.

Focusing on Medicine

Two years later, in 2011, the company changed again. The food and health parts of the business became "Meiji Co., Ltd." Meiji Seika then became "Meiji Seika Pharma Co., Ltd." This meant it would focus only on medicines.

In 2014, Meiji Pharma bought another company. This was Medreich, an Indian company. Medreich sells generic medicines in Europe, Asia, and Africa. This helped Meiji Pharma reach even more people around the world.
