Melanie Guile is an Australian author who writes books for both kids and grown-ups. She was born in the north of England in 1949. When she was five years old, she moved to Australia.

Her Education and Early Career

Melanie Guile went to Methodist Ladies' College and then to the University of Melbourne. She earned several degrees there, including a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts. She also got a Diploma in Education.

For several years, she taught about children's books at Melbourne University. She also wrote many reviews and articles about books for young readers.

Becoming an Author

Melanie Guile knew she wanted to be a writer when she was only seven years old! However, she didn't start writing her first children's novel until after her second child was born.

Her first book for younger readers was Revenge of the Green Genie. It came out in 1996. The next year, in 1997, she published Mr Venus, Computer Wizard. Since then, she has written many different kinds of books. These include both fiction (made-up stories) and non-fiction (true stories and facts) for kids and adults. Today, she works full-time as a writer in Melbourne.
