Melissa Donovan d'Arabian is an American cookbook author and TV host. She became famous after winning the fifth season of Food Network Star in 2009. After winning, she hosted her own show called Ten Dollar Dinners on Food Network.

Melissa's Early Life and Education
Melissa d'Arabian was born in Anaheim, California. As a child, she moved around a lot. She lived in places like Tucson, Arizona, and San Diego, California. Melissa went to several private Christian schools.
Her mother raised Melissa and her sister by herself. Because her mom was studying to become a doctor, money was tight. This taught Melissa how to cook on a budget from a young age. She learned that cooking was a way to show care for others.
After high school, Melissa studied Political Science at the University of Vermont. She also joined a sorority called Alpha Chi Omega. Later, she earned her MBA from Georgetown University. Before that, she even worked on cruise ships!
Melissa's TV and Cooking Career
After winning Food Network Star, Melissa started her show, Ten Dollar Dinners, in 2010. This show taught viewers how to make tasty meals for four people for $10 or less. The show was very popular and ran for three seasons.
In 2012, Melissa wrote her first cookbook. It was called Ten Dollar Dinners: 140 Recipes and Tips to Elevate Simple, Fresh Meals Any Night of the Week. This book became a New York Times best seller!
Also in 2012, Melissa hosted another show. It was on the Cooking Channel and called Drop 5 Lbs. with Good Housekeeping. On this show, she shared recipes that were low in calories and gave tips for losing weight.
Melissa is often a judge on the show Guy's Grocery Games. She has even shown off her ability to speak fluent French on the show! She has also appeared on many other Food Network shows. These include The Best Thing I Ever Ate and Chopped. Her recipes and money-saving cooking tips have also been shared on other popular shows and magazines.

Ten Dollar Dinners is a cooking show hosted by Melissa d'Arabian. It first aired on August 9, 2009. The show became popular because Melissa had just won The Next Food Network Star.
The show's second season started in January 2010. For this season, Melissa got a new kitchen set that looked like a real home kitchen. The third season of the show began in July 2010.
In each episode, Melissa teaches viewers how to make a full dinner. This dinner is for four people and costs $10 USD or less to prepare.
Melissa's Personal Life
Melissa met her husband, Philippe, while she was working at Euro Disney. Today, they live near San Diego, California. They have four daughters together. Melissa is a Christian and attends the First United Methodist Church of San Diego.
