Mental Block is a funny Canadian TV show. It first aired on September 1, 2003, on YTV. The show was created by Leila Basen and David Preston. Sean Dwyer and Michael Kennedy directed the episodes.
The story is about Donovan Mackay, a thirteen-year-old boy. He's navigating his teenage years. His parents sometimes act like teenagers themselves! Donovan's best friends, Ira and Shelley, aren't very popular at school. His crush, Chloe, seems out of his reach.
Luckily, Donovan has a secret weapon: four teenagers living inside his head! Their names are Sparks, Maynard, Skipper, and RJ. These four characters help Donovan deal with his daily life. They guide him through the fun and sometimes tricky adventures of being a teenager. The show takes place in suburban Greenfield Park Junior High. It was filmed in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
What Happens in the Show?
The show explores the challenges of growing up. Donovan's inner team helps him make decisions. They guide him through school, friendships, and family life. Each inner teenager has a different personality. They offer Donovan different advice. This makes for many funny and relatable situations.
Season Two Changes
In the second season, things change a bit. Donovan can now see himself inside his own head. The inner teenagers still help him, but they advise him instead of directly controlling him. One of the inner characters, Maynard, is no longer part of the team in the second season.
