The lake and the village are named after Andrew Meyer. He was an early pioneer who settled in this area a long time ago.

Meyers Lake is a unique village because it includes both land and water. The total area of the village is about 0.43 square miles (1.13 square kilometers). Out of this, about 0.22 square miles (0.57 square kilometers) is land, and 0.21 square miles (0.56 square kilometers) is water.
