Michael B. Diven (born March 27, 1970, died August 18, 2020) was an American politician. He served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. This is a group of lawmakers who help make rules for the state of Pennsylvania. He represented the 22nd District.

Michael Diven's Early Life and Education
Michael Diven was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on March 27, 1970. His father, Joey Diven, was a police officer. Michael went to Duquesne University. He earned a special degree there in 1993.
Michael Diven's Political Career
Starting His Political Journey
After college, Michael Diven worked for a local leader. This was from 1993 to 1996. In 1997, he was elected to the Pittsburgh City Council. He was only 27 years old. This made him the youngest person elected to that council back then.
Serving the Community
Michael Diven was involved in many community groups. He was part of the Brookline Area Community Council. He also led the Pittsburgh Public Safety Services committee. He helped with the Penn State Allegheny County Cooperative Extension.
He also helped start a group called Police and Communities Together (PACT). He was the president of the South Pittsburgh Housing Task Force. He served on the board of the Allegheny County Sanitary Authority (Alcosan).
Becoming a State Representative
In November 2000, Diven won an election. He became a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. He took over from Frank Gigliotti.
During his time as a representative, Diven worked on different ideas. He wanted to make health care benefits cheaper for schools. He also changed political parties in 2005. He went from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party.
Later Elections and Public Service
In 2006, Michael Diven ran for re-election. However, he was defeated by Chelsa Wagner. Later, in 2009, Diven returned to the Democratic Party. He ran for District Justice in Pittsburgh. He did not win that election either.
Michael Diven's Passing
Michael Diven passed away in August 2020. He was 50 years old.
