Micheál O'Brien (born June 1923 – died 14 May 2015) was a famous Irish sports star. He played both Gaelic football and hurling. He was a key player for the Meath county team for many years.

Micheál was born in Skryne, County Meath. He started playing Gaelic games when he was young. At just 19, he joined the senior Meath football team. Later, he also played for the junior hurling team. His first big game was in the 1942 championship.

He quickly became a regular player for Meath. Micheál won two special All-Ireland medals. He also earned four Leinster medals and one National Football League medal. He even played in two All-Ireland finals that his team didn't win.

Micheál also played for the Leinster team, which represents a group of counties. With Leinster, he won four Railway Cup medals. For his local club, Skryne, he won the county championship six times!

His cousin, Paddy "Hands" O'Brien, was also a great player. Paddy also won an All-Ireland medal with Meath. Micheál O'Brien stopped playing inter-county football after the 1955 championship.
